twenty five

Today is my hot fiance's 25th birthday. I decided to have some friends and family help me make a list of reasons why we love/like/admire Preston and some favorite memories they have of Preston. Hope this helps babe since we are all missing you on your Birthday! Enjoy!
...
(by Susie, sister) Well, Preston is the luckiest guy I know. Through out his life he has just fallen upon luck over and over. He always has a good attitude and is up for any type of fun!! He is so athletic. He has the natural ability to pick up any sport. I will always remember watching him play ball and jumping over the third or first base lines coming in or going out of inning with a smile on his face. I am so proud of Preston, he is a great example for me and my children. He goes after his dreams and sets his goals high. He is always working hard and never gives up. I love him for that. He has a important mission on this earth and I know the Lord is depending on him. He has already touched many for good, because when you look at Preston you see the light of the Lord. I love you Pres.. Love, Susie.

(by Ty, nephew) "I love Preston because he's my uncle. I love to go to the Bee's game with him. And he helps me ride his motorcycle." Love, Ty

(by Elder Hansen, brother) PRESTON: my brother, my friend, thank you so much for everything you have done for me and the family. I have so many memories of us and all are good. You have always been there for me; I have always looked up to you and your high standard of living. I look back and see how big of an effect you really had on me and where I am at in my life now. Thank you. there are so many stories and experiences we have had but ill only mention a few, I remember when I was probably in 7 grade and you and Cole went to fisher park in west point to snowboard on some rails there, and of course I tagged along. I remember some other boys came to watch, they were about your age, they were smoking. You confronted them and actually got mad at them for smoking, yet they didn’t even get offended or mad at you. They new they were wrong. From that day on I have never ever had a temptation to smoke or drink. I thank you for your example in that situation. I see how many of your friends and my friends have problems with those kinds of things even to the ending of their lives and we are so lucky to never have been involved in it. Another one is when I came home one night after baseball when I was in 8th grade to see a brand new A2000 Wilson glove sitting on the table. I was so jealous of you for getting a new mitt. I wanted right then and there to start saving money to buy a mitt just like that one, just like the one you had. Then you came home while I was admiring its beauty, then I said "sweet mitt pres" then you said "it’s for you." no words could of described the way I felt. You gave me the best gift I thought I ever received, but you really gave me more, you taught me to love and care for others. I know you didn’t have that much money and gloves aren’t cheep. After all you were still in high school and could have used your money for so many other things. But you chose to use it serve your brother. Although there are so many I will share but one more, in family home evening one night you shared a story about brothers. I think the title was "He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother." I don’t remember the words but I do remember how I felt. It was about a brother carrying his little brother when he needed him. That’s exactly what you have always done for me. I always knew I could count on you in a time of need. I have also felt your love and your care for me just like the boy in the story. I remember from that moment on I wanted to be just like you. We have had so many good times as brothers; we have had so many good memories with each other. I thank you for everything you have ever done for me. I am so lucky to have had a brother like you. You are always there for me, even until now. I am serving the lord on a full time mission right now and I know that what you have done, the effect you have had on my life is what has helped me so much in getting to this point in my life. I will continue to follow you. Thank you so much for everything. You truly are your brother’s keeper. - love your brother and friend elder tanner hansen.

(by Jake, soon to be brother in law) I admire his humility, he always chooses to be in a good mood and is always there to help you.

(by Ryan, best friend) Favorite Memories With Preston:

Chasing deer at condos at Wolfcreek. This is when Preston and I first bonded. The rest is history…

Preston and I leading the “scout team” in a butt kicking of the starters in our Sophomore year in basketball

Our 2007 Vegas Trip: we gambled, we lost. Went to the UTES game all in our utes gear, UTES got killed by 27. But still we had a heck of a time…. Clubbing at the Palms and sleeping on the beds at the Redrock Hotel, were some of the highlights. And making it rain!!! Preston was earning tips in the club….

Indoor Soccer games: even though we weren’t the best team, we were not going down without a fight… literally. Preston is a bad A soccer player and led our team in goals.

That night when we took over the party and had everyone doing the Soulja Boy dance.

Arizona 2008: We packed up and left for AZ. We went to lake, and even though it was 50 degree water, we had a blast on the Turbo charged jet skis, and watching Preston tear it up on the wake skate and wake board. I think we all suffered from hypothermia, but had a short recovery. We layed by the pool, had a sweet BBQ, and went and watched spring training baseball in the warm AZ desert… best vacay by far.

It was always good times just chillin and talking about our future wives, future goals, and how life will be when we get older. We were always thinking ahead and planning how we were going to, as Preston likes to say, “ make things happen”.

That’s just a few memories… the rest are ahead of us.-Ryan

(by Curtis, brother) The things that I admire about Preston the most are his willingness to succeed! And I do mean willingness, because it is very hard to always be the best of the best at whatever it is that you do. He was always the best growing up at anything the he even tried; golf, baseball, basketball, snowboarding, etc. and even on his mission he was great and one of the best missionary’s, one that his mission President could count on. And now since he has been home he has succeed in everything that he does. He was always in the top 5 at Spring in sales (if not the number 1 man), he succeeded in New York when all the cards were stacked against him, and he has succeeded with Sky High Energy in arguably the busiest time of his life. No matter what is going on, Preston always find a way to be the best and succeed! He is a very honest, loyal, and one of the hardest workers you will meet. He has a passion for succeeding and I know he will succeed anywhere and everywhere he goes. When I grow up, I want to be like Preston! We love you man!!

(By Teresa, sister) My favorite memories with Preston are times when we would just hang out. I had the opportunity to go to New York with him and Virginia it was so fun to watch people flock to him and just want to be around him. He is so fun and a great example for all of us. He is so welcoming and non-judgemental - as the Savior was. I am so grateful for him and all is help this past year. I will always remember this time we had together. I am so excited for his new adventure with Alex. She will be a great companion, they will be a successful couple that will accomplish much in life. Remember Pres, you are always in my heart. I know that our Heavenly Father is so proud of you. I hope I can find someone just like you. Forever I love you Pres.

...

(By Grandpa Hansen) I just love Preston. Happy Birthday!

...

(by Madi, soon to be sister in law) Dear Preston, I love you so much and am so grateful to have you in our family, alex is very blessed to have you in her life, we all are. I remember when you came over to my house to ask Bruce for his permission and I was in my room pretending not to be listening and I was bawling because I was so happy that I would get to have you in my family! Happy Birthday love you and look forward to making lots of memories with you and alex;) love madi

...

(by Jared, best friend) Well me and preston go way back! Way back to west point three on three when we hated each other. We tried to kill each other. Well i guess two enemies can be best friends.......ok I tried to sound cute haha. Memories....where do I start!? Between all are crazy phases like bikes, rollerblading, soaps, blowing up things, lighting off dynamite, chasing tail, road trips that I dont remember cause I always fell asleep while he drove, we always had one that never went, baseball! One memory of baseball I wont forget is me and preston winning the championship in 9th grade. Preston has always been someone I have looked up to. He has potential to be someone great I and I know with no doubt in my mind that he will! He is my best friend ever!! I love him to death! Ok now i am getting all emotional sniff sniff.

...

(by Vanisha, soon to be mother in law) My first experience with Preston was meeting him at Temple Square with Alex, I should have known then I was in trouble! Kidding aside, I was impressed at how he treated Alex even then after just dating her a few times. I was also could see that he had somehow smitten Alex right from the beginning. I just want to say how grateful I am that Preston has tried to get to know all of us and become a part of our family; I not only appreciate how kindly he treats Alex but her siblings as well. I look forward to having Preston in our lives forever and anticipate years of fun with him in our family.

...

(by Grandma Faye) Preston is a handsome gentlemen at all times everywhere. He is a delight to be around, and needs to live closer to us!

...

(by Michael, brother in law) Preston, Oh how you have grown and changed from the days you were known as “Naner,” the little booger-eater that used to walk next door and want to interrupt and get in the way of Chris and I while we were busy playing catch, shooting hoops, or throwing a football around.

“Can I play?”, little Naner would ask.

I’d be thinking, “Come on Chris, just tell this little fella to sit on the sidelines.” But inevitably, Naner would somehow get his hands on the ball and manage to turn our 2 man game into a 2 and ½ man game.

I would have never guessed that the little blonde, fair-skinned boy with freckles all over his face would one day become not only my brother-in-law, but also a good friend. Happy Birthday Preston!

...

(by Grandpa Turner) I love you Preston! Happy Birthday! I think you are so smart to spend your life with Alex!

(by Becca, sister in law) The thing I love about Preston is that he is such a great example for my kids, especially Jack. He looks up to him so much and can’t wait to be big like Uncle Preston. He always says he is going to things like go on a mission and play baseball in New York when he is as big as Preston. It really means a lot to me for Jack, Kate and Claire to have a great role model in him.

...

(by Kelly, Dad) One of the great qualities I love in Preston is ability to focus. He has a strength to be able to focus on a goal and stay with it and successfully obtain or master it. With his eye on the goal, he thinks of what needs to happen, or what he needs to do to accomplish the target that he has set. In the scriptures the Lord refers to it in Matthew, chapter 6:

22....”The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole
body shall be full of light.”

Sandy and I have loved watching Preston’s eye focus on different things in his life. He has focused on his gifts as an athlete. He had a great eye in baseball. One of the great hitters in his senior year in the State.(All-State) His strength was on his focus of what needed to be done. Whether it was a hit, or a stolen base, or a defensive play; if he was up to bat or if he had the ball hit to him---he made the play. Not for glory, not for recognition—but to win the game. He focused on snowboarding and skate boarding the same way. Not because these were the major sports, but he loved them. And he focused on being the best and becoming excellent in them. He had offers of sponsorship in both. In golf, he does the same, even today. Hence, winning the last family golf prizes.
He has most recently focused his eye on solar energy, Sky High Energy (SHE), and he has the same focused attention and driving force to obtain sales and deliver the product to make the company successful.
Maybe the best thing his “eye has singled out” is Alex. I believe his eye, his heart, his mind, and his whole soul are focused on her. What a great eye!!!!!! We are grateful that his eye did focus on Alex. She lights up his eye and life, as well as our whole family. We are brighter and better with her.
Now, maybe one last thought. Preston has always had his eye on Christ. He is filled with the “light of Christ”. I believe that the main reason why he shines is our Heavenly Father’s light that dwells within him. May Alex and he, and all of us, let our “eye be single” in Christ, “that our whole body shall be full of light”, until we may live with Heavenly Father and the Savior in their Holy Light, is my prayer and wish. Love you much, Happy Birthday. Dad WH#2

(by Brad, business parter, friend) My friend. I’ve only known you for about 5 months, but within that time you have changed my life forever. You are the wind for my mill, you are the sun for my system, and the warm temperature deep down in the earth that keeps me going. But in all seriousness, if it were not for you I wouldn’t be as happy as I am today. I consider you a great business partner but most importantly I consider you as one of my best friends. I feel privilege to be able to spend as much time with you as I do and even more so on your birthday. Happy Birthday Buddy.

(by Sandy, mother) It is easy to write about Preston it is hard to choose just a few things to say there are so many memories running through my mind...
First of all I want to say how grateful I am that Preston is and always has been a great example of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is, to me, much like Captain Moroni! Always putting the Lord and family first. Even when he was young he was a great example and he has many other qualities that I wish I could have. I remember one time when we were just getting out of sacrament meeting, Preston saw Bishop Potter hobbling out of the chapel and down the hall, suffering from a bad back. Preston jumped up and helped him clear out to his car. Another Sunday when we arrived at sacrament meeting, Preston noticed that there were not enough young men to minister the sacrament...he disappeared...in about 5 minutes he returned with a white shirt on so he could help. He had run home to change from a blue shirt to a white one. One winter Preston had a part time job up at Powder Mtn. One night he did not come home. He stayed all night to help in the search of a diabetic young boy who was lost on the mountain. They had not asked him to stay, he just did because he thought he could help someone. In April 2002, one day Preston came home with a brand new mitt for Tanner! It was a beautiful mitt! One of the best you could buy. Preston had been putting money aside since Christmas to buy it. This was not just a great gift and a surprise this was a great gift of sacrifice. Also it was a great gift of love from a dear big brother! I am grateful fot the goodness of my children, so grateful fot their love one to another! Tanner will never forget the say he came home and the A-2000 mitt was waiting on the table! Preston has always LOVED to play ball. I was always proud of him as he was always a humble player. He has great great talent but at the same time he was always very coachable and considerate of the other players as well. I am grateful to be Preston's mom. I am grateful for his desire to be a servant of Heavenly Father. He was a great missionary in Guatamala and he is still a great missionary to all he comes in contact with through his wonderful example.
I am always saying to him, "Preston you are MY boy" and I love it so much when he says back "And you are MY mom." I love you Preston! Happy Birthday! Love Mom!

...

(by Alex, fiance) I love all the things that were said about this special guy and second everyone of them. Here is a few more that I love/admire in Preston. I love how he makes me want to be better and do better always. He is such an example to me of hardwork, and working hard for something until you achieve your goals. Sky High Energy is such a huge success because of his hard work and dedication and not giving up. He amazes me the things he is accomplishing down in AZ. I love the way he interacts with others, and is constantly making others (even complete strangers) feel special, Preston really cares about people and is very sincere about it. I love when he tells his sisters, mom, grandma, or any other female how beautiful they are or look that day or whenever. (He does this alot and to strangers some times!) I love it! Its not flirtaous one bit he really loves to make people feel good about themselves. He respects women, this was one of the huge things that I noticed in Preston when we first started dating and I loved it. I love how fun and silly he is and how he makes me laugh, i love when he sings and dances to wicked, his spanish love songs, grease, and many others, or screams and jams out to "jukebox hero" with me in the car. I love how active he is in sports, he loves it, and is incredible at about any sport he does. I love how special he makes me feel everyday, like I am the only girl in his world. Preston always makes sure he tells me "your beautiful, pretty, hot, sexy, gorgeous etc. etc." and lets me know that he loves me always. Even when I am being hard to handle and super sensitive because he is gone alot, he manages to calm me down and make me feel better. I love his love for the gospel and the faith he has, Pres is one of those "inmovable" people and is never influced by others to not do whats right. He is an example to many people. I love how adventurous he is and is up for anything, anytime. Preston, in these 25 years of your life you have made and continue to make so many people around you happy and proud! Thanks for everything you do for me and for our future. I am so greatful for this day you were brought into this world! Happy Birthday baby! Marrying you in just 12 days seems somewhat of a dream I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!
